Analysis of Factors Influencing the Adhesion of Off-line Low-E Glass with Silicone Structural Adhesive

With the gradual improvement of the energy-saving requirements of the construction industry, the market has gradually deepened its understanding of insulated glass, and insulated glass has become the preferred product for windows and doors and glass curtain walls. Among many insulated glass products, low energy Low-E insulated glass has more outstanding energy-saving effect than ordinary hollow glass, and its thermal conductivity K value can even be about 1.0 W/(m2·K), so it is more popular in the market.                                                                                                                                                                                        AoHong Glass Low-E hollow glass is made of two or more pieces of low-emisivity coated glass, with aluminum, frame or strips of desiccant injected to separate the glass, and the surrounding is sealed by glue, so that the middle cavity is always kept dry , Its unique spatial structure can block the passage of heat conduction, thereby effectively reducing the heat transfer coefficient of its glass products with energy saving, sound insulation, and environmental protection.
At present, the edge of the Low-E insulated glass is generally double sealed. The first seal is sealed with butyl rubber to ensure the air tightness of the insulated glass. The second seal is made of silicone rubber or poly sulfide rubber to ensure the stability of the insulated glass structure.
Poly sulfide rubber is poor in UV aging resistance, and can easily cause adhesion failure after receiving moisture and ultraviolet rays in the outdoors for a long time. Therefore, it is often used for the sealing of insulating glass in ordinary windows and small-size glass curtain walls.
Silicone structural adhesive has good adhesive properties and UV aging resistance, can be applied to all insulated glass, and the second seal of hidden glass and semi-hidden glass curtain wall insulating glass must use silicone structural sealant.

Silicone structural adhesives play a very important role in insulated glass. Once adhesive failure occurs, two major hazards will occur: First, atmospheric moisture will enter the hollow glass cavity, causing condensation, frost formation, and Low-E. Membrane deterioration, deterioration of the appearance and other issues; Second, it is prone to fall outside the hollow glass sheet, bringing serious security risks.
