Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall uses SCHOTT glass products

When the audience enters the Elbphilharmonie concert hall for the first time, they will be amazed by their unique architectural design. Designed by Herzog & de Meuron Architects in Switzerland, the Elbphilharmonie has an impressive shape resembling a firework shape. In the creative interior of the concert hall, there are 32 round TV mirrors with diameters of 33, 55 or 67 inches (90, 140 or 169 cm) mounted on the inner wall of the concert hall. The circular mirror tilts towards the audience, giving the impression of opening a new world through the mirror. The glass can be instantly changed into a digital display screen to show the audience relevant information about the show, such as upcoming events.

At the heart of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall design is the SCHOTT Group's semi-transparent mirror glass MIRONA® product line. The back of the MIRONA® product has a bezel that covers the outline of the TV display. When the display is turned off, the glass covered with the double-layer mineral paint is a mirror. If the display is turned on, the mirror is immediately turned into a display screen, which can display images and other information.
